Senior Youth Theatre: National Theatre Connections

Senior Youth Theatre: National Theatre Connections

STUFF by Tom Wells

Fri 15th & Sat 16th March at Lindisfarne Annex 7.30pm

Vinny's organising a surprise birthday party for his mate, Anita. It's not going well: his choice of venue is a bit misguided, Anita's not keen on leaving the house, and everyone else has their own stuff going on. Maybe a surprise party wasn’t the best idea? A play about trying (but not really managing) to help.

Our Senior Youth Theatre will be performing Stuff as part of National Theatre Connectionsa nationwide celebration of new plays for young people.

Stuff is one of ten brand new plays written especially for Connections by a selection of the best playwriting talent in the UK.

National Theatre Connections is one of the UK’s largest celebrations of youth theatre. Plays are commissioned for and about young people, from some of the best contemporary playwrights, and performed by schools and youth theatres all over the UK and Ireland. Young people have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of creating and staging the play both on and offstage, from set design to costume, lighting and stage management.

Support for the Playhouse Appeal has been fantastic and we would like to thank everyone who has donated so far helping us toward our target. Since closing the doors we have hosted a number of fundraising events at our temporary home at the Alnwick Lindisfarne Annex.

In December we had two festive concerts, Christmas Carols from the Alnwick Playhouse Concert Band on Sat 8th followed by a Carol Concert from the Alnwick Playhouse Community Choir on the 10th.

Tickets were free with a suggested donation of £10 which included a selection of sweet and savoury festive treats, including mince pies and mulled wine. Both were well attended and raised over £650.00 for the Playhouse appeal.

Tickets were £20 per person and it helped raise over £125.00 toward the appeal.

The Duchess’s Community High School performed their show, Christmas Epiphany on the 19th & 20th December at the school, donating all the proceeds to the ‘Show Your Support Campaign’.

It was a fantastic production with a very talented cast. The Playhouse staff supported the production technically and with Front of House management.

Thanks to everyone involved!

‘All the money we raise from the show is going towards the Playhouse and contributing to the renovation. For all of us this means a lot because we all love performing on the Playhouse stage and working with the Playhouse staff. We have really missed being on the Playhouse stage this year and can’t wait to be back when the Playhouse re-opens!’

Emily Breeze D.C.H.S pupil and cast member.
